The Great Basin Training Unit endeavors to provide high quality, interagency training opportunities to Great Basin geographic area students by offering an average of 45 intermediate and upper level wildland fire, aviation, prescribed fire, and fire management training courses each year. The Training Unit seeks out quality and diverse instructional cadres from all over the Great Basin. National and specialty cadre are also sought to enhance student learning. The Training Unit strives to provide accurate and timely information to the over 1,000 interagency personnel who attend course sessions or are seeking general training information.
Note: The Great Basin Training Unit accepts students from other geographic areas and countries outside the United States.
Nominations for Fall courses (September - December) are due by September 1 each year.
Nominations for Spring courses (January - September) are due by October 1 each year. This allows the Units and Zones to complete their prioritization prior to the Great Basin Training Committee meeting at the end of October, where final prioritization for Great Basin students occurs.
Out of Great Basin nominations are due November 1 and are prioritized by the GATR for each GACC. Out of Great Basin nominations will be prioritized after Great Basin nominations.
NOTE: All federal agency nominations must be submitted in IQCS for Great Basin courses.
NOTE: For S-258, S-358 and RT258, RT358 all nominations must go directly to the course coordinator using the standard NWCG nomination form, including accounting information.
